Barn finds are certainly some of the most intriguing classic cars that we can come across. A lot tend to end up on auction sites such as eBay, usually sold as seen and not able to run. However, this 1957 Cadillac Fleetwood, currently listed for sale on eBay, is a bit different. The seller rescued this car from a barn in California where it was, following the passing of its former owner. A mostly intact car, the seller decided they would get her going again.
A Beloved Fleetwood Looking For A New Home
The seller states in their eBay listing that when they found the car, some of the interior was apparently disassembled. But the car was pretty much all intact. Overall, it was virtually rust free, and they gave the car a tune up and were able to fire the engine up. Given that the engine ran nice and quiet, the seller decided to build the car back up, so it could go on the road. They did a lot to the car. The carburetor, fuel tank, water pump, radiator, engine oil, spark plugs and more are all replaced. The seller has called the car “Possum” and said it is their beloved Fleetwood.
A Wonderful Car In Great Mechanical Condition
Mechanically, it sounds like this car is in great condition. It is simply a case of turning the key and the car starts first time. The seller has driven the car around the block and the 365 CID V8 engine is smooth, and no fluids are reportedly dropped. It will need some more work, and needs a new exhaust, but it sounds like the car has a great starting point. Inside, the interior the seller says, is some 95% complete. Some screws don’t match up as the seller reassembled the interior, but it all stays in place, while the speedometer and fuel gauge both work.
A Full Restoration Hopefully Awaits Possum
The current owner says this is a car with a great patina and that it could still use a little love. The owner did not put the car into their name, but they do have the title from the previous owner of the Fleetwood. There is very little rust on the car, meaning overall, the body of it is in great condition. As barn finds go, this looks like one that has had a lot of care recently to allow someone to take it to the next level. Hopefully, Possum can be out and about again one day in her former glory.
